iphone, ipod and much much more to give away…

September 24, 2007

So by now you are aware of ONE THING in San Antonio and you are hopefully registered with Alison ( for January 24-26.   We expect to write alot of checks to cover conference, hotel, meal and travel expenses for planters.   It’s fun to lift up the efforts of pioneers!   What’s more, this week you will get a card indicating how you can win some really cool things in San Antonio.   Heads up!

There is still more….!   We are seeking the pastors of “pregnant congregations” to invite them to an expenses paid experience in San Antonio.  We simply believe that when they get next to planters they will feel their potential to parent and take steps to birth.   So if you know a name I should know to invite, give me a shout.   While we do have a “scholarship criterion” that they would have to meet (birthing a new church within 2 years is the biggie) we think this could be the nudge that some need.   Cha ching!

CT Rings The Bell…Crusades give way to Planting.

September 11, 2007

ct.jpgI still subscribe to Christianity Today…despite it’s descent into marketing anything from pew pads to the latest apocalyptic novel.   So I was fairly encouraged to find a great article by Tim Stafford in the latest issue on church planting.   Tracing the recent history of evangelism in north America, he describes the shift from crusades to church planting as the method of choice and then the host of movements that have sprung up.   So evangelism today increasingly IS church planting.   Some years ago the same author (Tim Stafford) wrote an article on crusade evangelism.    His longitudinal study over 5 years found no significant change in church participation in a community that had a Graham crusade.  Ouch!    As many would report that north America is the only continent in the world where the church is not growing, church planting is on the radar screen in a new way.   So we rejoice in partners in this movement including Baptists, Foursquare, Evangelical Free, Assemblies….(the RCA did not make his list).   CT rings the bell!
